Capturing sunsets across the globe, Smith laminates each image within deep acrylic sculptures, creating vortices of refracted ambient light that pull the viewer inward.
As a tool for meditation and contemplation, Smith seeks to counteract the sadness of fading sunlight. Through light refractions, she celebrates and prolongs the waning day, effectively stretching the boundary between past and future.
