The ocean is presented as a place of sanctuary and ritual, along with an observation of the way light moves, bends, and refracts in water. The effects of the light and color are captured in-camera. Playing with the distance between camera and subject, controlling the amount of light through the lens, reality is reduced into seemingly animated figures as the subject swims in underwater sequences on location in Moorea French Polynesia.
